Twin City is an emerging pop duo from New York City, comprised of singer-songwriter sisters Anjali Pitti and Bhavani Pitti, who were born in that order — just 13 minutes apart. Simply, the name Twin City reflects the fact that they are indeed twins, who embarked on their journey as recording artists in a city that they love. They are already gaining significant acclaim and earning praise from notables within the music industry. Their sound is an offshoot of electropop and synthwave, but with a retro nostalgic feel and a slightly futuristic edge.
Twin City's sound has been described as the sound of velvet dynamite. Its hallmark is a pulse of smooth energy, delivered with deep dimensional grit. Their songs are defined by stirring vocals and infectious hooks while organic harmonies drive momentum. Their lyrics are emotionally identifiable and range from playful and witty, to invigorating and empowering, which are spot-on representations of their personalities.
On September 22, 2022, Twin City released the music video for their debut single, "Let the Music Rock", after about two months of planning and production. Set to a vibe of futuristic dystopian, dusky, Mad Max, attractive, trendy, cyberpunk, and cyber glam, the music video features the fictional character Tara as the female lead. She represents a young woman who receives an unexpected breakup text, is distraught, and decides to go clubbing, ultimately finding a renewed sense of self.
Unknown to Tara, her sad state was detected by two benevolent futuristic space-type sentient beings played by Anjali and Bhavani. They help by sending an expressionless, and perhaps mechanical, morphing traveling duo (also played by Anjali and Bhavani) to take Tara to a place where she could cut loose and reclaim her smile. That place is an underground neon-clad dystopian city hotspot, where the third incarnation of the twins are performing and bringing their infectious talents and personas to the club. Shefik appears in the club scene, as a Club Goer / Dancer, enchanted by Twin City's performance.
Viewers get to see Anjali and Bhavani play three distinct roles that are integrated into a storyline that provides a unique take on the identifiable theme of coping with heartbreak, while reclaiming one's identity and self power after a breakup.
The song "Let the Music Rock" was produced by Damian Dustin and mastered by 6-time Grammy Award winner Randy Merrill of Sterling Sound. It will be followed with forthcoming songs and videos, supported by a series of spontaneous, pop-up performances around New York City.
