Jacqueline René is known for "Gotham" (2014), "Law & Order: Organized Crime" (2021), and "BET Her Presents: The Waiting Room" (2019). René has also appeared in "The Lion King" on Broadway.

"The Lion King" is a musical play based on the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios animated feature film of the same name with music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, and book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, along with additional music and lyrics by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer. Directed by Taymor, the musical features actors in animal costumes as well as giant, hollow puppets. The show is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.

On June 20, 2017, Broadway Sings for Pride held a Broadway-themed concert, as part of "NYC Pride: Family Movie Night", at Pier 45 (Hudson River Park), in New York City. Prior to the very special screening of the film "The Lion King" at dusk, family friendly selections related to New York and "The Lion King" were performed. Broadway Sings for Pride is a multiple award-winning, non-for-profit organization that brings together Broadway talent, activists, and celebrities, to educate the public, raise awareness of the needs of LGBTQ+ youth, and support these young people, so that they may reach their full potential.

René performed the song "Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down" during the event, where Shefik served as Videographer. "Empire State of Mind" is a song performed by American rapper Jay-Z featuring vocals by American singer Alicia Keys, from Jay-Z's 11th studio album, "The Blueprint 3" (2009).

Keys recorded a sequel entitled "Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down", which is featured on her 4th studio album "The Element of Freedom" (2009). Her version was positively received by critics. Keys said that she chose to record her own version of "Empire State of Mind", because she wanted to express her own personal feelings about New York.
