The Inside Man

Condé Nast is a global mass media company founded in 1909 by Condé Montrose Nast (1873-1942), and owned by Advance Publications. The company's media brands attract more than 72 million consumers in print, 394 million in digital and 454 million across social platforms. These include Vogue, The New Yorker, Condé Nast Traveler, GQ, Glamour, Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Pitchfork, WIRED, and Bon Appétit, among many others.

GQ (formerly Gentlemen's Quarterly and Apparel Arts) is an American international monthly men's magazine based in New York City and founded in 1931. The publication focuses on fashion, style, and culture for men, though articles on food, movies, fitness, sex, music, travel, celebrities, sports, technology, and books are also featured.

Since 1957 (as Gentleman's Quarterly) and 1967 (as GQ), the publication has inspired men to look sharper and live smarter with its unparalleled coverage of style, culture, and beyond. From award-winning writing and photography to binge-ready videos to electric live events, GQ meets millions of modern men where they live, creating the moments that create conversations.

As part of a co-branding partnership with Valspar Paint, GQ published a blog starting on May 20, 2010, titled "The Inside Man" (https://www.gq.com/theinsideman). Shefik developed this blog as a Web Developer, where he incorporated technologies such as PHP and MySQL, utilizing the content management system WordPress. Valspar is currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sherwin-Williams Company. Founded in 1866, the Sherwin-Williams Company is a global leader in the manufacture, development, distribution, and sale of paints, coatings and related products to professional, industrial, commercial, and retail customers.

The blog, written by Brett Fahlgren and Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan, was well-received.

Fahlgren helps guide men's fashion choices through comprehensive style tips and one-on-one personal shopping consultations. His connections with top menswear designers and fashion editors make him a go-to resource among celebrities and professional athletes. In addition to his role as GQ's Style Correspondent, Fahlgren has also hosted and produced GQ's "Milan Fashion Report".

Apartment Therapy founder Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan is an interior designer and author. Apartment Therapy, originally an interior design service, is now a network of blogs devoted to helping people make their homes beautiful, organized, and healthy. Gillingham-Ryan and his brother launched ApartmentTherapy.com in 2004. The network included 5 websites — ApartmentTherapy.com, TheKitchn.com, Ohdeedoh.com, Unplggd.com, Re-Nest.com — reaching over 4 million unique readers per month.
