Sanofi Pasteur is the vaccines division of the French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi. Sanofi Pasteur is the largest company in the world devoted entirely to vaccines. Sanofi Pasteur provides more than 1 billion doses of vaccine each year, making it possible to immunize more than 500 million people across the globe. A world leader in the vaccine industry, Sanofi Pasteur offers the broadest range of vaccines protecting against 20 infectious diseases. The company's heritage, to create vaccines that protect life, dates back more than a century.

Sanofi is a French multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare company headquartered in Paris, France. Sanofi engages in the research and development, manufacturing, and marketing of pharmacological products, principally in the prescription market, but the firm also develops over-the-counter medications.

As part of a partnership with March of Dimes, Sanofi Pasteur initially published a website in 2009, titled "Sounds of Pertussis" (http://www.soundsofpertussis.com). In 20211, Shefik developed an iteration this website as a UI Developer at Publicis Modem, where he incorporated technologies such as ColdFusion. The website was intended for United States residents only.

The Sounds of Pertussis campaign is a national education campaign from March of Dimes and Sanofi Pasteur to help raise awareness about the potential dangers of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, and the importance of adult tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination. As part of the campaign, actress, singer, and mother Jennifer Lopez helped launch a public service announcement (PSA) to raise awareness about how adults can help prevent contracting and spreading pertussis to babies.

Started in 2009, the campaign continues to help educate parents, grandparents, caregivers and others in close contact with infants about the importance of getting vaccinated with the adult Tdap vaccine to help protect themselves and to help stop the spread of the disease to infants.

The Office of the Mayor of New York City proclaimed August 11, 2011 as Pertussis Awareness Day, which falls during National Immunization Awareness Month.
