As a veteran in observance of Veterans Day, I am honored to have marched at the New York City parade, alongside my colleagues from Comcast and NBCUniversal, on Saturday, November 11, 2023. I served in the United States Army Reserve from 1991 to 1999, and I received an honorable discharge from the Infantry Branch.
Organized by United War Veterans Council, the New York City Veterans Day Parade is the largest Veterans Day commemoration in the United States. Nearly 300 elements consisting of 20,000 marchers and 150+ vehicles proceeded up New York City's iconic 5th Avenue in the heart of Manhattan: America's Most Patriotic mile!
Thank you to Gari Harvey for forming the marching team, comprised of members and allies of the employee resource group Veterans Network at NBCUniversal. Also, thank you to Military and Veteran Affairs at Comcast for your additional support.
Veterans Network fosters a business culture that recognizes, supports, develops, and promotes the unique characteristics of veterans at NBCUniversal. Comcast (the parent company of NBCUniversal) believes in connecting with the military community, by creating an inclusive workplace for military teammates and special experiences for military customers and communities. The company's commitment to military engagement is deeply rooted in their culture, going back decades to its founder, United States Navy veteran Ralph Roberts.
