Shefik was an official judge for the 11th Annual Shorty Awards. Shorty Awards, also known as "Shortys", honor the best of social media by recognizing the influencers, brands, and organizations innovating across the social web. In addition, Shefik has been named an associate judge for the 23rd Annual Webby Awards, and for the third consecutive year will return as master of ceremonies for Shop. Sell. Strut!. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Morgan Marie Michael Foundation for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Celebrating over 25 years in the entertainment industry, Shefik held senior-level positions at many Fortune 500 companies and celebrated brands, including IBM, NBCUniversal, and MTV World. He currently serves as a Technical Lead at NBCUniversal. His work was featured in television broadcasts and video productions for TIME, The Washington Center, "Unsung" (TV One), and Broadway World. Thousands of Americans commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington, a pivotal event in the 1960s civil rights movement at which Martin Luther King Jr. gave his galvanizing "I Have a Dream" speech. Shefik served as a Marshal for the March.
