WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Media personality Shefik (https://shefik.info) has once again been named a judge for the USA National Miss pageant (http://usanationalmiss.com/facebook-events/2018-usa-national-miss-new-jersey-pageant/), where he will serve alongside a panel of esteemed judges. Shefik will aid in the official judging for the New York and New Jersey state contestants. In the previous year's pageant, he judged state contestants from New York, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Those crowned will move on to the national pageant, to be held at the Swan and Dolphin Resort inside Walt Disney World, in Orlando, Florida, from July 1-7, 2018. Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields will be the head judge for the 2018 USA National Miss national pageant. Shields crowned her successor at the 91st Miss America pageant that was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, after an incredible year of service as Miss America 2017. Shefik attended this historic Miss America pageant and crowing in-person.
The New York and New Jersey state pageants for USA National Miss will be held at Crowne Plaza White Plains - Downtown, 66 Hale Ave., White Plains, NY 10606, from Friday, March 9, 2018 to Sunday, March 11, 2018. USA National Miss (named by American Model & Pageant as the #1 Best National Pageant in America for 2016) is a fashion-forward pageant system, with a strong focus on interview, academics, community service, and empowering young women. Contestants represent and work many different platforms, and the national organization has developed Crown C.A.R.E.S., which is an anti-bullying program that fosters awareness of bullying prevention. The acronym stands for "Creating a Respectful Environment in Schools".
Throughout 2017, Shefik was very active in the community. He served as a judge for a local Miss America competition, aiding in the 2018 crowning of Miss Northern Highlands, Miss Northern Lakes, and Miss North Jersey. The winners will move on to compete for the state title of Miss New Jersey 2018. Shefik also served as moderator at a panel discussion on "Equity & Diversity: Community Dialogue", held in Washington, D.C., and he was named Master of Ceremonies for various charitable events to benefit Autism New Jersey, and Eastern Shore Self-Advocacy Project (Chestertown, Maryland), as well as industry leading events Maarkah New York Fashion Week SS18 (New York City), and Lehigh Valley Fashion Week (Pennsylvania).
Additionally, Shefik appeared as a guest speaker at various uplifting events, such as a holiday fundraiser for YWCA Yonkers (Yonkers, New York), the 7th Annual Broadway Sings for Pride, and Global Tech Meets Fashion Affair Fundraiser, both held in New York City.
