NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Media personality Shefik (https://shefik.info) has been named a judge for the National American Miss pageant (http://www.namiss.com), where he will serve alongside a panel of esteemed judges. Shefik will aid in the official judging for the New York and New Jersey state contestants. Those crowned will move on to the national pageant, to be held in Anaheim, California.
The New York and New Jersey state pageant for National American Miss will be held at Hyatt Regency New Brunswick, 2 Albany St., New Brunswick, NJ, from Friday, August 10, 2018 to Monday, August 13, 2018.
National American Miss is a program based on the foundational principle of fostering positive self-image by enhancing natural beauty within. It is a program designed for today's girl, celebrating America's greatness and the individuality of American girls. National American Miss is a program centered around helping young ladies grow and expand their ideas about who they are, and what they want to achieve. The program wants every girl to realize that she truly can take hold of her dreams and make them real. Each year, National American Miss awards contestants $1.5 million through cash scholarships and prizes.
Shefik is continuously very active in the community. He served as a judge for a local Miss America competition, aiding in the 2018 crowning of Miss Northern Highlands, Miss Northern Lakes, and Miss North Jersey. The winners moved on to compete for the state title of Miss New Jersey 2018. Shefik also served as judge for the New York and New Jersey state pageant for USA National Miss (White Plains, New York), Miss Fashion Week (Allentown, Pennsylvania), and NewFlex Youth Hair Show Princess pageant (Mount Vernon, New York).
Outside of his judging duties, Shefik was the moderator at a panel discussion on "Equity & Diversity: Community Dialogue" (Washington, D.C.), and he was named Master of Ceremonies for various charitable events to benefit Autism New Jersey (Lakewood, New Jersey), and Eastern Shore Self-Advocacy Project (Chestertown, Maryland), as well as industry leading events Maarkah New York Fashion Week (New York City), and Lehigh Valley Fashion Week (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania).
Additionally, Shefik appeared as a guest speaker at various uplifting events, such as a holiday fundraiser for YWCA Yonkers (Yonkers, New York), the 7th Annual Broadway Sings for Pride (New York City), and Global Tech Meets Fashion Affair Fundraiser (Brooklyn, New York).
